Cayce Fire Marshal

The primary mission of the Cayce Fire Marshal’s Office is to protect life and property for the citizens of Cayce through education and code enforcement.

Fire Prevention is the inspection, education, and enforcement division of the fire department providing life safety services through code enforcement and inspections during the new business development process, general fire inspections, operating and special use permitting and complaint investigation.

Fire Education

The Fire Marshal’s Office provides fire education classes to Restaurants, Night Clubs, Schools, Day Cares Apartment Renters and Businesses. The fire code now requires that all establishments to be trained in fire prevention technics such as fire extinguisher usage and evacuation criteria etc.

Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Alarms

Working smoke detectors are require in in every home, apartment unit and hotel /motel. If gas appliances are present in the home or in a building, carbon monoxide alarms are required. Smoke detectors must be checked monthly to see if the smoke detector is working correctly. The batteries shall be changed out twice a year normally when we change our clocks to spring forward or to fall back. Carbon monoxide alarm have a life expectancy of seven years. Smoke detectors have a manufacture born on date located inside housing of the smoke detector. Smoke detectors have life expectancy of ten years.
